Prison released HIV positive mother and her daughter Have a good shelter at Setu

IMG_0136Kamala (name Changed), a HIV positive woman, recently released from prison after 6 years of her imprisonment came to SETU home for treatment with her 7 years old daughter. During baseline investigation of their health status, it was found that Kamala was suffering from tuberculosis and many other opportunistic infections and immediately her treatment started under SETU Nepal. It was good for her to get released from the jail and receive immediate support from SETU Nepal for her treatment. In spite of that, she does not seems happy after her daughter was also identified as HIV positive after a recent blood test. This came out as a big trauma for her. Kamala and Avina(daughter) have just been discharged from SETU after 2 month of their stay for the treatment. Now the challenge for them is to survive in the community where discriminated even from family after the death of her husband. Avina is not safe at home in spite of that she is with her mother. She was already abused sexually by her 14 years old uncle at home when her mother was in jail. SETU Nepal is appealing their well-wisher to support Avina for better education and safe shelter such as Aarati house.
